Hi As part of the RWC 2011 Official Fanzone in Christchurch we are looking for footage of matches from the following decades: 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s This is for an exciting concept - The Rugby Nostalgia Lounges where we would love to play old games of rugby on the TVS from that era/decade in a set depicting Kiwi life at that time. This would feature in the Dome at the Christchurch Fanzone and at CPIT this October. If you have any old footage of your club playing or know anybody that might have footage of entire games from club matches to Canterbury Rugby to International Fixtures could you please direct them to me please. Any help will be greatly appreciated and all videos/dvds would be treated with the utmost care.
Thank you for your time
Kind regards Sheena Baines Events technical Coordinator Christchurch City Council PO Box 73014 Christchurch 8154 Direct Dial: 941 8471 Cell: 0274 865 558

Hi There Your club had Classics and U6 Dorie teams playing out at Belfast on July 3rd. We had photographers at most games that day and they took a lot of great photos. Some of them are Sumner players. The U15 Belfast team has a facebook page where these photos can be purchased at reasonable prices. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Belfast-U15-Rugby/115709505136741. Can you please pass on to your coaches and players of those teams the facebook address above and ask them to take a look at the photos. Many Thanks Regards Garry Hutt Belfast U15 Coach/Manager

I am a researcher currently doing a project for the CDHB and we are trying to recruit rugby players into our study of kidney function. What we are trying to do with our study is to assess males with different body composition and to see if this affects current kidney markers in the laboratory. We identified rugby players as a group of interest as they will have high muscle mass. Currently, in the laboratory, the most frequently used marker to assess kidney function, is called Creatinine. Creatinine is highly affected by muscle mass and by diet. So in athletes with high muscle mass, their kidney function will be wrongly represented by this marker. What our research group intends to do, is assess another marker called Cystatin C which has been proven in the research arena as a more accurate marker. We however need to prove this before we can claim this marker can benefit our population.
To be eligible in the high muscle mass group, we need our participants to have a BMI of greater than 30 kg/m2 and a body fat percentage of less than 20% (so not much body fat). We calculate the body fat percentage at our screening visit. There are 2 study visits and participants will be remunerated $180 for their time.
If anyone is interested, please email me for more details of the study

| Good call Mike. The Wave forwards have been the heart and soul of the season. Our loose forwards, with inspirational captain Mark Bacon and outstanding openside flanker Tom Gilmour have been some of the best in the comp, while our scrum has been one of the strongest around. Lock Matt Fiztgerald is in 2nd place on our MVP list, while hooker Francis Smith earned an NPC contract and is now up with Tasman. |

| How are the forwards playing for Sumner at the moment? They don't seem to get a lot of air time in the match reports even though a lot of the grunt work usually comes from the pack. |

Here it is:
Quote from MoS Grandfather 1917-1919
"When a game was to be played in Sumner on Saturday, I would travel by horseback from the Peninsula on Friday, stop overnight in a cave at Rapaki and complete the journey the next morning. At halftime we would retire to the sand dunes and partake of the keg. Often play would not resume" |
